What happened
A routine check of USB sticks by Kansai Television found that Media Pulpo, which produces the show Momoko no OH! Sore! Miyo!, could not locate a stick holding data on viewers who applied for gifts. [1]
Media Pulpo had moved offices on June 27 and packed the stick with other items, so it was most likely lost while unpacking. [1]
Impact
It held names, addresses and phone numbers of 2,491 gift applications from broadcasts between September 12, 2009 and June 13, 2020, counted with repeats. The stick used hardware encryption that takes several steps to open. The station planned to write to those affected during October. [1]
