SEED: the network server of its Konosu research center was accessed without authorization and up to about 70,700 personal data records may have leaked

   In the early morning it confirmed a failure on the network server of the Konosu research center. It stopped the server, cut the network and suspended part of its internal systems. Parts of several systems became hard to reach and product shipments were delayed. It began investigating with outside experts. [1] [2]

   It explained the case to the Hongo police station, consulted them and filed a report. It announced the case and restored the systems from backup data. [1] [2]

   It published the investigation result. Unauthorized access exploiting a vulnerability of a network device set up for system maintenance is likely. It confirmed that 11 files leaked and said up to about 70,700 records may have been accessed. [1] [2]

The people concerned are employees and their families (including former employees), individuals who bought goods at the family sale for business partners, individual shareholders and individuals with relations or dealings with the company. Names, addresses, phone numbers, birth dates, sexes, email addresses, purchase history and similar data held before November 29, 2022 may have been accessed. Credit card data is not included. [1] [2]
