Fujitsu: malware on 49 work PCs may have exfiltrated personal and customer data
On 15 March 2024 Fujitsu said it had found malware on several work PCs and that files containing personal data and customer information could have been taken out without authorization. Its investigation results of 9 July say malware placed on one work PC spread to others; 49 PCs in Japan were infected or had data transferred from them. The malware was not ransomware but an advanced type that used many disguises to avoid detection. Copy commands were run on some files, so Fujitsu assumed they had been taken and reported individually to the affected customers. No traces of access to its customer services were found, and no misuse has been reported.
