WECARS: customer data may have been disclosed through a former employee's phone synchronization

On 15 January 2025, WECARS disclosed that synchronizing a former employee's personal and work phones and then accessing a particular URL may have exposed the names and phone numbers of 152 customers stored on the work phone. It reported the matter to the Personal Information Protection Commission, consulted police and planned individual notifications. No secondary harm had been confirmed in the notice.
