Resona Bank: microfiche with records of closed accounts lost

On 28 September Resona Bank said microfiche (COM fiche) holding customer data could not be found. It recorded names, account numbers, reasons and amounts of closure and last transaction dates of about 9,000 customers who closed accounts at the former Kyowa Saitama Bank and the former Asahi Bank Hamura branch between July 1992 and March 2001. It came to light after an inquiry in June, and the bank thinks the fiche were most likely discarded by mistake. No misuse has been found.
