Institute of Science Tokyo: unauthorized access to its IT infrastructure

On 7 September, Institute of Science Tokyo, formed by the merger of Tokyo Institute of Technology and Tokyo Medical and Dental University, disclosed that its IT infrastructure had been accessed by a third party and personal data may have leaked. The data includes names, addresses and emails of students, staff and others enrolled at the time of the merger; the scope is under investigation. No leak of university hospital patient data was found. It set up an incident task force on 28 August.
