Gakken: group sites down after unauthorized access to an external server

On 8 October, Gakken said its publication-related sites and the Gakken mock exam site were down after a third party gained unauthorized access to an external server. The same day Gakken Medical Support reported the same cause for its e-learning application and facility pages, and on the 9th Gakken Educational for its flyer ordering and old inquiry systems. The server provider was not named. In updates on the 19th and 20th, the companies said the provider's investigation had found no leak of data or personal information from the server, and that they were restoring sites once each was confirmed safe.
