Taketa: employee improperly acquires about 60,000 municipal records
On October 21, Taketa City disclosed that a department head had used other departments' accounts and passwords since around 2018 to acquire about 60,000 records, including personal information, for purposes unrelated to work. About 50,000 concerned residents and 10,000 concerned employees; municipal PCs and hard drives were also taken home without authorization. The conduct was discovered in January 2026, reported to police in May and led to a six-month suspension effective October 20. Exact data fields remain under investigation, and external leakage has not been confirmed.
