What happened
TechnoHill, which runs the 1FEdu training site on reducing radiation exposure at Fukushima Daiichi, reported a cyberattack on the site to the health ministry. The service was stopped and outside access blocked. [1]
Impact
Leaks of 6 email and password pairs were confirmed, and they were used to log in. The same database held the names (with readings), age groups, genders, employers, positions, job types, email addresses, passwords, phone numbers and years of experience at Fukushima Daiichi of up to 595 learners, which may also have leaked. [1]
Passwords are assigned by the system and cannot be changed by users, so the ministry considers reuse elsewhere unlikely. No misuse had been found at the time of disclosure. [1]
Response
The ministry instructed the contractor to find the cause and prevent a recurrence, and affected people are to be contacted individually. [1]
