What happened

According to Fukui Television, Fukui Prefecture announced on 6 November that resumes and CVs uploaded by registrants to its 291JOBS job site for people moving to the prefecture had temporarily been viewable. They contain names, addresses, phones, birth dates, photos and work histories. The cause was a setting error by System Kenkyujo Co., Ltd., the contractor that maintains the site. [1]

On 29 October a former registrant reported that their CV could be found through web search, and the prefecture took the site offline. Log analysis showed that 864 files covering 368 people had been viewable, and 14 files of 10 people had actually been opened. All files were made private and former registrants’ data was deleted. Those affected will receive a written apology through the contractor. [1]

Fukui Television identifies maintenance contractor System Kenkyujo. A configuration error exposed 864 resume files concerning 368 registrants; 14 files for 10 people were actually opened. [1]
