Bell Data: ransomware; about 47,000 business card and employee records may have been viewed
On 26 September 2024 the systems integrator Bell Data (Shinjuku, Tokyo) disclosed that its internal systems had been hit by ransomware early on 19 September, delaying ordering and other work. On 7 October it said it had confirmed that some information about business partners had leaked. Its report of 17 March 2025 said a third party likely got into its servers through a VPN device, and that 47,359 records of business card data of partner contacts and employee data (444 of them employees) may at least have been viewed. Some of the data was confirmed to have been uploaded to a leak site. Its systems have been restored.
