Internet and computer basics
VPN (virtual private network)
A way to connect from home or elsewhere, over the internet, to the computers inside an organization. What is sent is turned into a jumble that only the machines at the two ends can turn back (encryption), so nobody in between can read it. The machine at the organization that lets these connections in can itself have flaws that attackers use to get in.
