Musashino University: ransomware; files in shared folders were taken

Musashino University disclosed a system failure caused by unauthorized access on 30 June 2026. According to the second report of its school corporation on 7 September, a server it manages was attacked by a third party on 15 June and found infected with ransomware. Systems were restored from backups and its schools have run without disruption, but a forensic investigation found that several files in shared folders had been taken, some containing personal data such as names and addresses. Who is affected and how many records were involved was still being investigated.
