Meitetsu Kyosho: ransomware attack

On 23 June, Meitetsu Kyosho, a Nagoya Railroad group company running parking and car sharing, detected suspicious access to its servers; some stopped and it cut its systems off. The investigation found traces of ransomware access on 19 June. Parts of its parking site, its point card, its car lease member site and new sign-ups for the Kariteko car sharing service stopped. On 28 July it said several servers had been attacked and a leak of customer data could not be ruled out, and began notifying Kariteko members and others. 263 season ticket buyers at Nagoya City parking lots it manages were also affected. An August 27 notice also identified possible exposure of MKP point-card members' gender, birth dates and passwords. Actual leakage or misuse was not confirmed; full service recovery was targeted for year-end.
