Co-op Yamaguchi: unauthorized access to the LINE mini app database
On 27 August, a third party accessed the database of Co-op Yamaguchi's LINE mini app, which an outside contractor develops and runs, and deleted all its data; it was restored from backup the same day. The database also held part of the member records. Member codes, family names, phone numbers and postal codes of 69,586 members without a Coco card and 143,126 members with one (plus card numbers and PINs), and names, addresses and emails of 365 non-members and 4,218 web form respondents, may have leaked.
