Nihon Seirei: unauthorized access to the AI Lab 225 stock forecast site

On 23 October Nihon Seirei said the server of AI Lab 225, its Nikkei 225 forecast site, had been accessed without authorization and personal data of members and others may have leaked. It confirmed the intrusion on 22 October and cut off the route. The intruder had been on the server since about 13 September, and a malicious program had also been planted around January 2022. Affected data covers about 380 members, including former ones (nickname, name, email address, birth date, gender, prefecture, Facebook link data and login password), about 19,250 email addresses and passwords from unfinished sign-ups, and the names, email addresses and messages of people who sent inquiries. Passwords were stored unencrypted, so users are asked to change the same password on other services. It invalidated all member passwords, stopped Facebook login and reported the case to the Personal Information Protection Commission.
