CMS (content management system)
Software for building and updating a website from on-screen forms, without writing programs. WordPress is the best-known example; EC-CUBE is one used for online shops in Japan. Because the same CMS runs on many sites, attackers who learn of a vulnerability automatically search for sites using it and attack them all at once. WordPress, the most widely used CMS in the world, is attacked especially often. Not updating the CMS and its add-ons (plugins), and weak passwords for its admin screen, are common causes of site defacement and data leaks.
