Router
A device that joins networks together and decides where each piece of information should go next, like a sorting office for mail. At home, the box that connects your computers and phones to the internet line is a router. In an organization it sits at the entrance from the internet, and many routers also provide VPN. A router left with its factory password or without updates can be taken over by attackers and used as a way in, or as a place for a man-in-the-middle attack.
